sick leo geck need advice

I am seeking advice on the lizard at my daughter's school. It is a leopard gecko and is not doing well at all. We have recently bought a gecko ourselves and are really excited about adding it to our "zoo". We would like to bring this one home and nurse it back to health. It has a white crusty covering over its eyes and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly apprciated!!

same thing a vet trip might be in order did they have a calci dish in there
if they did try moistening the crust and gently wipe it away if the leo was in the water dish (as mine do ) then went to the calci dish it might be calcium powder stuck there

cheaper options?

There isn't a cal dish in the cage. Is there any over the counter options to try before the vet. Me husband got laid off in March and a vet trip is pretty costly. I don't think it's cage is set up correctly and I know all they feed it is mealworms with no vitamin supp. Do you think it could be it's enviroment and poor feeding?

The first step would be to correct any husbandry issues that might contribute to the crustiness. (humidity substrate and diet come first to mind) and then try moistening the crust with a cotton swab and some water or saline solution.
I would keep cleaning out the eyes for a week or so and look for improvment. If you don;t see any then its time to get an antibiotic ointment from a vet, which will require it to be seen.

It sounds like it could be some retained shed?

I would definietly advise you print off the care sheet that Rich wrote - it is under the articles section, and pass it to the school - they should have a calci dish in for the leo and should also be supplementing his/her foods.

Is there any way you can get a picture of it?

Best of luck in helping the little one
