It would not have to be your hands. The scent could be on your clothing.
And there are people who have successfully kept 2 together but they are either male/female or two females and in very large room size enclosures.
However two males is a recipe for disaster!

Re: Cagemates for Iggies

Actually I got 2 iguanas and they are in the same cage, they were not exactly the same size in the beginning when I bought them and actually the difference of size just got bigger...

it is true that they are very territorial.. "my big one" always keeps the nicest spot, eat more and sometimes treaten the small one.. i saw once the big one bitting the tail of the small.. but they do fine... sometimes they share the same branch, eat at the same time, and actually sleep the small one over the other...

it is now 1 year and half I have them and they seem both to grow, and to be healty...
but I recon it is maybe not the best idea ... cause the cage needs to be huge!

Re: Cagemates for Iggies

I have had this same exchange with numerous people. And most of them had a sad ending.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard this same type of story.

They were kept together and got along just fine.

Unfortunately the next part is,.....

Then one day I came home and there was blood everywhere and the iguana was dead!
Its just not worth the risk.
