Taming Paying off!
ok it seems like the taming has been paying off.. now my iguana lets me pet it when I put my hand in the cage, and doesnt run off wild like before.
it only lets me do this if I put my hand from under him, if I try to touch him from about his eye level or above he will panic and run off. he is also more calm when I hold him, and I can almost trust him to rest in my arm without escaping. now I had also started to do the potty training, lets see if this works too, so far he has 2 days of pooping in the tub XD! and thanks for all the tips and feedback I got from users here =D |

Re: Taming Paying off!
Thats great. Just don't be surprised if he "backslides" on you. They are great for taking advantage of our over confidence! A hip leash is good for keeping him with you .
The reason the ig is touchy about your hand coming in from above is that is where one of their main predators, birds of prey, would strike from. You will find that any movement over them makes them nervous. Even an airplane flying over can make them go spastic. And if you are in a car and go under an overpass where the shadow goes overhead it can also freak them out.

Re: Taming Paying off!
lol ya, every time an airplane passes or a bird he looks up twisting his whole head.
what I like the most is how they study everything around them, every single sound or thing interests them. |
