Spikes
Does your iguana have spikes that stand up straight, or do they flop over? I was alos wonder, those of you with flopped over spikes, do your iguanas like to sleep under blankets or their beds or whatever? Diz used to have straight spikes until this winter when he started sleeping under his bed. If you have more than one iguana you can pick more than one choice!

She has the equivalent of human curly hair.
Straight spikes are conical in nature and stand up straight. Flat, curved spikes are flat in nature and lay over. This is what I was able to surmise when I did some research and polling of spike types last year.

Zok's spikes are the flat type. Up until last year they stood pretty straight. After her last gravid period they all laid over.
She does not sleep under, or get under, anything.

Both my male and female have straight spikes. They even sleep under blankies. I am kinda supprised my big boy's are still standing, since my female likes to lay all over the top of him and smushes his spikes a bit. But they always pop back up when she gets off him, lol.

I remember talking about this very thing when you visited 2 summers ago.Gil's spikes stand stand up, but are curved toward his tail; they're flat.

Iggie's spikes are all goofy!! some lay to the right and some to the left.
She sleeps under a couple blankets and on top of her heat pad, I just recently started putting the heat pad under a blanket with her on top of it, with 1 or 2 blankets on top, it just depends on the temp. at night. She also isnt in a cage so its kinda hard to put a heat device where she sleeps. I think she also likes to be snuggle-y under her blankets ![]()

How should I consider one of Bob's spikes which is starting to grow back in a circle? Where most of the spikes have a slight arc from front to back -- the tip is behind the base -- this one is rather aggresive in its curve and nearly touching the base of a spike a few back. This weird one is still growing flat in the head-to-tail plane though. I wonder if it will continue to form a circle.
