An interesting and unique characteristic of Blob.

Rex has terrible spikes. After much discussion with vets and others that have seen many iguanas, we decided he is simply not genetically pre-disposed to nice long healthy spikes. Much like his dad, who is not genetically pre-disposed to have a head full of hair. LOL!

My iguana's spikes lean to both sides. He hasn't eaten in a long time either, but he's also plush and red and stuffed with fuzz

I don't think Bob's are too long. Of late the tips have been flatening out with the sheds. His longest spike is only 1.25" as measured with a Stanley Fat-Max tape from where they split into individual spikes to the relaxed height (I did not have to touch the spike to take thie measurment).

He has a section over his back legs where the shed came off way too early and the spikes are only 0.25" tall but fat and round. This is where they started to shed when he was recovering from surgery -- the shed came off on its own before the spike formed. This is a length of 4 spikes in between other spikes of about 0.75" length.

Sounds like Matt has the best ig on the forum. If I had that ig all its spikes would flop to the right.

Zair's spikes are very long...and they stand up straight. The 3 girls' spikes are much shorter, but what they have also stand up straight. No one lays under blankets here.

For those who's igs spikes flop over, are the spikes rigid? Or are they soft and floppy?

They are rigid, nothing soft about them!

I'm wondering if this flopped over spike is actually just naturally occuring as dominick said, or whether it can be due to diets or whatnot. Perhaps a difference in a mineral intake or something. Possible?

I'm not sure, I think alot of the reasoning behind Dizzy's spikes being curved is that he sleeps UNDER a blanket most of the time.
