My iguana Baby has fallen from my boyfriend and now her front leg is all swollen and she can barely use it. She can use it to walk but cannot grip anything with it. She is a healthy juvenile and this is the first problem she has ever had!

What could be wrong with my poor baby? She hurt her leg and now it is all swollen but she can use it a little.

Unfortunately I can't but all thats wrong is she has a swollen left leg. It is much bigger than the other. It is kinda usable for her and she is walking on it sometimes. The doctor said it might be tissue damage.

No I cant but it is somewhat usable for her and she can use it until she gets to her toes.

Re: Hurt and Swollen Leg!

You said "the doctor said it might be tissue damage". I'm assuming then you have taken her to the vet.

Re: Help Baby the Iguana Please

You need to take her to the vet. There is nothing that you can do to help other than get her to the vet.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Ditto! Just like a person, dog, or any other animal, if it's broken, it needs professional care. Here are some links to help you find the closest vet to you experienced in iguana care. Keep in mind you may have to travel. Though more vets are offering exotic animal care, not all do reptiles , and some who claim to do so may not see many. Ask how many they see a year when you call.

Re: Help Baby the Iguana Please

I took her to the vet and all the lady did for 145 dollars is torture my poor iguana! I am taking her to the odd pet vet so he can get the fluid out of her thigh and bandage her up. Angel Memorial Hospital seriously had a lady come and tug on Baby's leg, she looked at me like "Mommy help." She is using it alot more now and we have an apointment. Soon he will do just fine, other than her injury she sleeps, eats drinks bathes and cuddles like she used to and now she is getting a male companion Baby to keep her company while she heals.

Hun - I hate to be the first to tell you this...but igs don't like company and it could actually harm her more and impede her recovery...

Re: Help Baby the Iguana Please

You could also use Dr. Dyer at the VCA animal hospital in S.Weymouth. When Greg (Odd Pet Vet) went to the Wildlife Center, Steve took his place at the VCA.

I also suggest not getting another iguana for company. I do suggest however that you buy some literature on them as it is explained in almost all good literature as to why owning multiple iguanas is a bad idea.
