Grizzly slowly declining

This is an update on my baby Grizzly, anyone who has read the other thread on him knows we have been having lots of medical problems with him.
So here is the sad news: Grizzly in the last 36 hours has been slowly going down hill. He is now not moving around much, will not eat anything at all and just chokes and gags on the force fed syringe. His respitory infection did show signs of improvement, but now has come back with a vengeance. I continue all his injections and have switched to a different antibiotic, but the outcome does not look good.
In discussing his history and condition yesterday with someone who has done this since before I was born and giving a lot of soul searching I have come to the conclusion that I will not be doing any more invasive testing or procedures on him as I believe they are just going to cause him more pain and will not do any good. That was a hard decision for me to make as I type this with the tears flowing and him snuggled on my lap as my first reaction is to rush him to the E.R. and do anything to fix it, but it will only prolong the inevitable.
I will be watching for a rapid decline and suffering to make sure that he is not in a ton of pain and if he is he will be euthanised humanely.
I only wish that they would make Iguanas by permit only and maybe it would stop some of this unneccassary suffering for them.

Very sorry to hear that Nicole. I know from experience it's really hard to watch the health of a pet deteriorate like that.

Thats too bad Nicole. It's a shame that there aren't stiffer penalties for those who mistreat animals.
I know that you had gotten your hopes up. However you can take pride in the fact that, thanks to you, at least his last days were with someone that cared for him and treated him well.

Merlin said it... "at least his last days were with someone that cared for him and treated him well."

THAT is worth GOLD in my opinion!

Nichole, I am so sorry to hear that Grizzly isn't well. I know what it feels like to hold him in his last hours. I am so glad that you were able to give him a good home and all the love he could handle. Keep us posted and I will be praying for you and Grizzly.

Grizzly as of tonight has not changed, he didnt even move, but to blink at me when I gave him his injections. I am just giving him lots of love and will be watching closely throughout the night. I am still holding out hope though I know I probably shouldnt. He has always been such a fighter that it is hard for me to accept that it will end this way! By all means he should have been dead when I received him, he fought and pulled through so much back then, that this seems like nothing compared to it. His poor little body can only handle so much.
Thanks for all your support I really appreciate it!
