OMG!! I figured it out!! Yeah!!My poor brain is so fried right now!! This was a 2 hour event for me ( funny isnt it !)
O.K so here is her story, sorry the pics were not better I had to make them smaller so that I could post them on here. She came to me with burns all over, dehydrated, having tremors in the toes. The worst is the dewlap I thought she had a cyst or tumor in it as it has a huge hard mass in it. She went to the vet with me yesterday who informed me it is no tumor it is a huge pocket of infection that is hard as a rock. She has a secondary bacterial infection that is now being treated with Amikacin that is injected in the muscle of the front legs every three days for the next 4 weeks, she has burns throughout the underside of her body in many areas, some the pics did not show.
For her dehydration she has the subcu fluids that are injected under the skin in the abdominal area. we are now force feeding as she eats hardly anything, she is the sweetest thing that is obviously in so much pain, but hopefully that will all change. Her tail is almost grown back the normal length, it is obvious that is was removed when she was very young. The huge scar on her belly is some kind of surgical procedure done to her some time ago, so at one point someone cared about her, I wonder what happened? Who knows.
She has many other issues that I could go on and on with. I am really anxiously awaiting the results of the reptile panel!! Good news is the fecal came back negative!! Yeah!
So here goes another rehab that will hopefully have a positive ending and find a wonderful home!
Oh as most of you have probably guessed it was a hot rock that burned her! Why have they not banned these things yet?UGHHH

Wow that's quite the story, i've seen similar happenings around here. Atleast the bump is abcessed, that means the infection is localized and didn't spread. Abcesses can be nasty, especially when they come to a head. Hopefully her's just disolves.

Could the surgical scar possibly be a spay scar? Some places wont adopt out an animal without sterilizing it first. It might be a blessing for her if she's too messed up to handle breeding season.

the abcess in the dewlap is only one that I showed in the pics, it is the worst by far the others on the underside of her are infected, she has a nasty one on her tail and they are just spread throughout the underside of the body, she is pretty sick, I am hoping to see a change in the next 24 hours or so, that will give the antibiotics 48 hours to kick in.
As far as the surgical scar the vet could not tell as he explained to me that when you spay an iguana there is very little left behind so it makes it hard to tell with the finger in the "who who " exam. Poor Baby Dragon sick and still has to be violated... The scar goes up a lot farther so he was tending to lead towards impaction or that she ate something bad at one point or another.
The disgusting part about her story is that she is a rescue from a rescue, this particular person said he had her for 4 months and that she was dropped off like that. The vet said it was absolutely impossible that those burns were more than 4 months old. So they happened in his care with absolutely no vet treatment what so ever. He is a another story in himself!!! Grrr! Some people need to realize their physical and financial limits! Such a shame that he has so many more and I am full!

Nicole, I'm glad that you have the desire to help animals in need, many people treat animal as a throw away object. Once an animal come into our house it is here to stay, they get the best care we can give them. We also adopted an Iguana all-most two years ago (August) who was a second time around adoption. When we got him, he had a burn about was around 4" x 5” it is now all most cleared up! Though his health is starting to fail (13-15 years old) he still has his moments of attitude.

Wow that's some story! Definitely keep us posted. In what part of Washington are you located? I have friends in the Olympia and Spokane areas.

I am located about an hour to an hour and a half from Seattle depending on traffic. I am always willing to make a trip to get one of these a good home! I have to drive around 2 hours just to see my vet. However I do not adopt to just anyone and I do require that people have their own proper enclosures and tell me how they will be caring for the animal, and also which vet they will be using as almost all require follow up care. I will also sometimes ask to see the new enclosure. I do not do that to be mean and nosy, it is just that they have been through enough, and there are a lot of people who mean well, but as we all know meaning well and having a good heart does not make up for lack of knowledge, especially in reptiles!
As far as the other rescue goes he does mean well but has no financial backing and is quite ignorant in the keeping of reptiles!! He turns down nothing ever, he also rescues everything! I have spent many hours contemplating on turning him in but the downfall to that is he does real well with the furry critters ( guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, etc) . The down side is that his husbandry for the reptiles is repulsive, enclosures way too small, improper diets and lighting and the list goes on. Most of his reptiles "rescued" pass in his care which I know most was preventable.
Now I have tried talking to him but he thinks he knows everything so I have to remain quiet ( which is hard for me, believe me) to keep our lines of communication open so that I can take some of his and get them the care they need or just move them on to others who will, But he is getting t hem in faster than I can move them and rehab them. He just never says no, it is all about the adoption fees to him! UGHHH! Shoot the man who takes my snakes I had him full in a little over 9 months ( 41 snakes) poor guy LOL. So now I am also stuck there as I am full and so is he.
Good news is that my vet gave me a number to a place called Kindred Spirits in Bremerton, or somewhere around that area, they come highly recommended! I am going to talk to them tomorrow to see how they can help relieve some of the load off mine or better yet his first!
I could go on forever about this it is so frustrating!!

Oh I didn't even notice that you are in Washington! I'm in Spokane, and we don't have jack for rescues. Our reptile rescue lady is a nut who is in the same boat as your offending guy. I call in on her every chance I get but they do nothing. They don't know proper husbandry so they just assume shes crazy enough to keep them she must know what shes doing. We are also in short supply on exotic vets, I haven't found a single one I trust. Washington just isn't a good state for enforcing herp care...I hit a wall every time I call someone in. I only do it in the most extreme cases but usually they say "We'll add your name to the list" and hang up without getting my information!
