Swollen thumb

Hello everyone!

Today I noticed Rocky's thumb is swollen--like the size of a small pea right above his nail. The finger next to his thumb is slightly swollen as well, right on the knuckle. I called the vet, but she won't be in until Tuesday. Just wondering if anyone thinks this is serious enough to try to find another vet before then....he's eating and going to the bathroom just fine, and wandering all over as usual (free roamer).

Any ideas on what this could be?

Is this the same toe that had the nail problems?

Is there any retained shed that you may have not noticed?
Is the tissue still normal colored?
Is it causing him any discomfort?

Probably a bit of infection in there. Wouldn't hurt to put some polysporin on it.

Neosporin is fine. If it looks like retained shed you should soak his foot in room temp water for a few minutes.

Make sure you DO NOT use the neosporin with the pain killer in it, just use the original stuff.
