Gravid Iggie

Well I finally got Iggie to sit still long enough to take a couple pics of her, every time I tried to take one she would turn around, almost like she didnt
want to show how big her tummy is getting!

This last one shows how long she's getting. She wouldnt fit if she had that 5-6in she had taken off years ago

She looks like my baby girl did before she layed her eggs. How's she eating? Mine wouldn't eat a thing for weeks before she laid. She looks good though. Let us know when the eggies come.

Her eating has cut back allot she eats about every other day, drinks lots of water though, She's also more picky as to what she will eat, so I only put out small portions at a time otherwise they go bad.
Im not tooo sure anymore as to when she's due, last year she re-absorbed them the year before I think was March 20th approx. but she seems farther to me. So Im kinda guessing the end of this month but I could be totally wrong!

If anyone has any ideas please tell me how I can kinda decide when she's approx. due I'd really appreciate it. The other thing is she doesnt like or has used a nesting box in the past so I dont know if I should make one anyway. She likes to eat the soil that I put in the box and that worried me thinking it might impact her.

Zok has never used the box either other than to get in and dig around. However I figure that it is saving her claws from digging on the floor so I keep putting one in.

Ya Dom,
Ive been putting on her food each time I figured that since she's
not eating daily and only small amt each time doing that should be good.
Yes? So do you think she should be due around the same time frame as before? I just dont know,

Yes, the supplement is good as the egg production is stripping her body of stored calium with little intake from the food.

I dunno about the laying out or resorbing. Much like human females there are countless factor that come into play.

Good luck with her. Seems to be the "Egging Year". We are working with several iguanas who have gone gravid and ended up in emergency spays. So watch closely for any signs of extreme discomfort.

Dom,
When you say extreme discomfort, can you explain a little more?
The only thing she's showing now is shes fussy about being petted on he sides, and laying down she kinda prefers a t-shirt to bunch up and then get just the right spot by going in circles on the shirt before she gets settled.
Other than that shes still very mobile crawling up and down her post, clawing at the bedroom door pleading for SOMEONE ANYONE to come let her out of her jail cell!

It is like the iguana does not want her belly to touch anything. They "seem" misreable and even a bit snappy if you try to hold them.

As long as she is not exhibiting behaviors that are out of character for her, she should be fine.

The ones I talked about suddenly changed behaviors and were very much on edge.

Good luck with it all!
