Louie
Stephine is right so I changed the forum about louie over to here lol sorry for making it soo long.
He has been doing ok, He hates the outside or I guess you could call it hate or well its the wierdest thing I got him in the pet carrier to take him to the vet (just for a check up) and he got mad once that pet carrier got to the yard he started bumping around and whipping his tail, scared the crap out of me so I put him back in the house and waited for him to calm down and put him in the cage! From now on Vets come to the HOUSE! That was my fault I should have covered the carrier or something cause Steve warned me about him being outside....... Other than that he is a angel except for purposly spilling his water yesterday! I had someone tell me that it would be ok too keep his cage floor wood? Is that alright I am not cheep I just dont want his nails getting stuck in the carpeting or whatever I would put in there! ![]()

No need to make a vet come to the house. Just covering the carrier will amaze you in how well it gets accepted as a means of transport.
As for the wood floor...is it sealed? All wood should be sealed as a mandatory part of cage building. Unsealed wood harbors bacteria and other cooties...and soaks up the smell. You will have a reeking cage before the month is up. Once it's sealed (unless it already is...with at least 3 thick coats of a water-base polyeurothane) then use newspaper as a substrate. It's easy clean up and I would be completely lost without it. I have 5 cages it goes in...and a co-worker who saves her newspapers for me... Others have different ideas on what to use, but good ol' newspaper is my choice of substrate. Some choose to use linoleum and wipe up the mess...some use butcher paper. As long as it's not bark, sand, gravel or any other loose particled medium.

I have a vinyl floor in Nadias cage and I lay newspaper over it just in case he misses the potty :P It's alot easier to roll up newspaper than it is to wipe the mess up off the flooring. Plus vinyl is really easy to clean and disinfect.
Hint: Make sure you put the vinyl up the side of the cage (from the floor) about 3 inches or more, Ig poop can fly I swear! LOL

I am so glad to here he is doing so good. I cleaned out his old room this weekend. I repainted the walls and cleaned the carpets. Would you beleive at the end of the 30 - 45 minutes I spent painting the walls, it took everything I had to breath. Even my inhaler was not helping. I miss him, but I do not miss that. I cleaned the carpets later that day with a special anti-bacterial solution. After I did that I have been fine in the room. I like the vynle idea. Wish I would have thought of that. It would have made cleanup so much easier.
Spilling his water dish is one of his favorite past times. Very rarly did a day go by that he didn't spill it. I tried many different things to stop that from happening yet he still figured out some way to spill it. How was his checkup? I am sorry I did not mention to you to put a cover over the pet taxi when you take him outside. It is amazing how he goes from mellow old Louie to psycho lizard just by walking through a door. This time of the year you could blame it on the temperature but I have done this during the spring and summer when the temp outside was either the same or a little warmer than in the house. |

Update
He is doing fine he hasnt spilled his new dish! Ha ! I won so far! he is doing ok the spot on his nose where he has rubbed it down is being cleaned everyday and kept dry, that was what I was concerned about and other than that everything is ok!
With the Vinyl all I have to do is dry up any water spill (if there is one) and then sweep it out every day and it stays really, really clean! ![]()
