Size comparison....M or F???
Well.. i've got a couple pictures id like to show of Seign.....
The first is a picture of his "vent" and pores.. im not sure if he's old enough yet.. but anyone got any guesses on male or female... i am siding with male. in the picture you can see the duller part of his skin..he was in mid shed.. and it was taken a day before it started flaking off...its kinda cool lookin. ![]() these next pictures are for size comparison.. Ive actually got him totally asleep in both pictures.. ive been working with him since he was a baby, to make a long story short.. i just massage his body all over and use a "shhh" sound to help calm him... i actually think its the best way to tame an iguana... it's worked wonders for me.. i can get him to the point where I can move all his limbs around without caring.. i can make him in any pose I choose... he has developed a trust.. 1st pic. taken in late august ![]() 2nd pic. taken a few days ago... i got him in the similar position so it was easier to see how much he's grown. ![]() sorry for the bad quality in the last pic.. i couldnt get the flash right.. dont know why. I call this one..Shed Head ![]() Chillin' on the heating pad ...making a mess with his food... like always. He's got that .. IT WASNT ME look on his face. ![]() well, thats' all for now.. let me know what you guys think about male or female. |

Hello,
Thanks for the pictures, but I can not tell if you have a male or a female yet. the femoral pores are pronounced, but those could easily "disappear" as the iguana matures. |

I think its too small to tell yet.
However you should not be holding the ig laying on its back like that. The reason that the lizard seems to be asleep is it cannot breath properly.

In the picture, the ig is on its back.
Lizards lack a diaphragm and cannot breath in that position.

There was no assumption made regarding your intelligence or IQ.
You'd be surprised how many people don't realize the danger in putting their iguana in that position.

Indeed. No one is calling you an idiot. Its just that some aspects of reptile physiology are a bit weird, at least to us.
Many of us as kids discovered that trick with little fence lizards and thought it was cool. We didn't know any better then. Now we do.

..it just looks like he's on his back...i rotated the picture so that it looked more alike the other picture...
i did know about them not having a diaphragm.. but I really didnt think about it being a problem when he's in that position.. he shows no signs of being in any stress/ pain.. whatever.. i figure that they are straight up all the time when they climb.. correct me if im wrong... heres the actual picture before modification... ![]() |
