Mites?
Hey all, I've treated my iguana for mites and believed they were all gone. BUT I've discovered some strange behaviours with my iguana. Sometimes (not often) my iggy scratches her head with her back leg (like a dog) then I sometimes see her moving her head sideways (not bobbing her head) like shes trying to get something off. I dont know wether it's mites so I would like some help on what kind of medicine to use and how many times a week to use it.
Thanks!

Re: Mites?
If you're not seeing mites, then my guess is that she's getting ready to shed. The dry scales must itch because Gil does what you're describing when he's in that process.

Re: Mites?
Simple solution,...get a magnifying glass.
Under magnification mites will be easy to spot.

Re: Mites?
thanks, yes merlin I did that yesterday, i left her soaking in the bath tub for about 20 minutes then took the magnifying glass and checked around her head to see if I could spot any, there was nothing there. What confused me is that I asked my vet how I could be absolutly sure my iguana has no mites. The answer I got was, "well, if there are no eggs then you dont have mites." that didnt help much.
Thank you.
