Iguana Losing Spikes on Tail...looks Bizzare
my iggy is loosing his spikes on his tail....it look weird I have taken photos I hope they can help. should I put peroxide or something. this iggy was dumped on my lawn almost 2 years ago and lost part of his tail and back leg to a lawn mower....the black you see is his tail growing back... any help or anyone know what this is??? is it deadly?IMG_1157.jpg

i called the closest vet here and even if she istn an exotic vet she will look at him anyways...i am really worried. is there anything I could do to help him anyways? he is eating fine

first I would find out if the vet deals with exotic animals. if not, i would save your money, and find one that does.
other than that, i cant help you. sorry. hope it all goes well.

I'd try to find a specialist. At the very least, request that she consult a specialist.
I've never seen anything like that, but perhaps Merlin, Rich, or Dominick have...

well the closest expert is a 5 hour drive soooo I will try this vet. she says she sees reptiles sometime. im hoping she can help. if nothign works then ill be heading a few days to montreal to find a real herp vet hehehe I dont wanna loose my charlie

you really want to be careful taking reptiles to vets that don't specialize in them. While they really might be trying to do what is best for the animal, they usually don't know enough and can cause the issues to worsen rather than get better. Nicole had a similar experience and if I can find the link I will post it...

thank you, I will be carefull...but does anyone have an idea what it is???? I am so worried? do you think this could kill him??? he is eating fine and acting normal....I have no idea what this could be but I am worried sick
