help?Erratic Behavoir from Zair
when I opened Zairs cage today he flipped out, he jumped off his hammock and started running around the cage walls, he was moving his head around in sharp movments im not sure if he was head bobbing at me or looking for someplace to run, he's never done this before, do you think it has to do with him going into his first breeding season? he hasnt devloped much orange at all, just on the corners of his lips ,under his arms and sometime infront of his eyes looks a little orange.
Just yesterday he was allowing me to hold him and hand feed him while he sat on my lap. i thought maybe the table saw in the other room could have scared him when I was cutting pipe and tileboard for his cage but i've been cutting things for 2-3 days and he just started this today, i'll check on him in a little bit to see if he's still doing it but he was running himself into the walls so I put his food in and left him alone so he wouldnt hurt himself ![]()

Is where you are working on the new enclosure in his sight? All the activity and the change in the way things look may have spooked him.

Hi Jade-
Sounds pretty normal for an iguana who has been recently relocated. Perhaps he was so stressed from the move that he appeared artificially calm. Now that he has had time to adjust to new surruondings, he's decided to push you to see how much you will tolerate? Either way, use lots of voice when approaching so he knows you are coming and not a stranger and by all means handle him when you choose too. Leaving him alone everytime he freaks out could cause a bad behavior modificiation in that he will continue to freak out on you cause he knows you will go away then. Remember, think like an iguana, they are VERY clever creatures!
