My iguana was just tub pooped, and I noticed today that after it pooped, there was a white strand coming out of its butt, that looked just like the small thin stems that "radiate" out from the main stem of mustard greens leaves (which is one of his diet staples). However, I do not know if it is actually a stem or something else, because it wasn't "crunchy" like a stem, but turned into a mush when I pressed my fingers on it kind of like a wet strand of toilet paper.. Perhaps the digestive system made it like that, I don't know, or it could be something else. Perhaps a little bit of paper it injested when digging around the newspaper? Or perhaps a solidified bit of the white fluffy urates??

It stuck out of the butt about 1.5 inches. I pulled it out, and it broke in the middle, so I had to get ahold of it and pull again, all the while the ig fighting me like no tommorow. All in all what came out was about 3 inches, I believe there might still be a little of it left inside.

Is this something I need to be concerned about or is this normal.

did he get into any string or somthing to that effect if it looks like food they will eat it. id monitor his bowel movements and his eating it might pass

I wouldn't pull too hard on anything coming out. It may be wrapped around something. Let it pass if it will by itself if you can't gently pull it out. At first, I thought seminal plug but they are usually solid. At least Huff's was.

Ok I won't pull anything again. But it wasn't like a string it was a strand but it was mushy like jello and just crumbled to nothing when pressed.

Any chance of that being some sort of parasite?

Sounds like the early stages of a plug being passes but your ig is so young. During season Bob will either have these daily or a larger plug every few days.

I didn't know "Plugs" were strands? I thought they were like corks?

It is sort of "Semi solid", not like liquid but maleable like booger but a bit softer still. Is this right for a seminal "plug"?

Sounds like I might have to change my vote from 'liv' to 'tyler'....dizzy passes a plug almost everytime he defecates so if he'll stay put i'll take a picture for you.

If its kind of the consistency of melted mozzerella cheese then its probably semen.

Seminal exudates is described in Melissa Kaplan's article on seminal plugs. I had forgotten about Sampson--don't know how. He never had plugs that I noticed. But he'd leave some stringy, cheesy, or rubbery yucky stuff daily while in season. I guess that is why he didn't develop plugs--he exuded the seminal substance before it solidified into a plug.
