Need Help...Does someone knows what this means????

Hi,
I have a young male Iguana, I had him now almost a year and last nite for no reason at all he was freaking out in his tank. He was bangin his head and jumpin back and forth. His color got real dark & he looked like he was going to died on me. He is fine now but now I'm alarmed and afraid it will happen again. Does anybody know what that means?? Is it a warning or could he be sick???

Thank you,
Tee

Welcome to HCN!
Sounds like something startled him!
Are there any other pets that have access to his area? TV playing, window he can see out of? Some rapid movement near his cage. Anything new added to his cage?

when I first got fluffy, she did that same thing every time I would walk in the room. Could you imagine what it was like to force feed her for a month?

consider yourself very lucky my friend.

Is the iguana in a glass tank? Could it possibly see its reflection? My iguana will flipp out sometimes I the bathroom and dive off of the couunter and go hide from his reflection...he's a wuss.

IT could be a whole variety of reasons. But if its not a regular occurance, chances are whatever scared it at that point in time isn't regular in its surroundings. If it happens again and again, there maybe something you need to change in your room. If it was only a one time thing (maybe a big bug flew on the glass, whatever) it would be next to impossible to go back and find out what it was.

Yet another crazy theory to toss out. Can it see out a window and was there a large bird flying particularly a raptor. Seeing a raptor or the like in the sky will take an iguana from lounge to lunge and fly instantly.

Welcome to Herp Center Vampvixen58!

Could it have been something that you were wearing? I know that certain colors can freak an iguana.

Hello and welcome to IC.

Bam-Bam has dome the same thing on everal accounts. Most of the time she has been sleeping and just went nuts ramming the walls of her cage and tearing up her nose by running into the mesh that is on her cage.

Nothing in her cage has been changed and no one had startled her. We think that she was dreaming. There is no other answer for her crazyness at the time she did this. We took her to the vet and there was nothing wrong with her at all. So now when she is sleeping we watch her closely and it has been a long time now sense she has done the wild thing.
