It could be an infection of some kind....especially if they are bleeding....try putting some neosporin on it...and if it doesnt improve I would bring him to the vet....good luck Sean....Lyn

I agree with Lyn, it could be some sort of infection. Iguana belly skin is pretty tuff stuff. Is it possible that the log has some sort of sharp or abrasive surface that is irritating the skin?

Lizzy has an area on his side where it seems to be an excess amount of scales. I was wondering if it was a situation where he didn't shed all of his skin? We can apply Neosporin. I was wondering if he should soak in the bathtub one a day to help keep the area clean. My husband and myself have never noticed blood (we have both looked). Thanks.

If it is unshed scales than a good soaking should remove them. It could also possibly be an old burn. A picture would help.

We'll work on picture tomorrow and send them along. We are also going to alter his climbing log to make sure that there is nothing rubbing him. I'll have Sean soak him tomorrow and we'll some neosporin on him after his bath.

Hmmm...I'm not sure, I've never really seen scales like that.
