Help!!!
If any one can offer advice I would really appreciate it. A while ago my ig lost some tail and I was bathing it in betadine to fight infection. The tail seemed to be growing well and has grown about an inch in the past month. Only last night I was playing with him and noticed where the new tail joins old it was all dry skin and the tail had a kink in it. Any ideas?

Is this a recent development or gradual? Can you give some more detail? Does it hurt him when you touch it? He may have whipped it at something and injured it again. A picture would help. Someone else may have a better idea.

Can't do pictures at the moment. It seemed to be doing ok its just over the past few days its started to dry out. He squirms if you try and touch the tail tip which makes me wonder if its infected.

If the new growth is dying and getting dry I suggest that you get to a vet. Is the new growth getting all wrinkled and prune looking?

Then its possible that there is dry gangrene setting in. This requires veterinary intervention. If it is DG the affected area will have to be surgically amputated and the iguana put on antibiotics if it is to survive.
But let's not get too excited yet till you see what the vet has to say.

Well I got my little one to the vet and he says there was nothing to worry about regarding his tail. However he was concerned about how little he was eating. Turns out he doesn't like nutrobal so i've had to move him on to bone aid which is a liquid form of nutrobal.
