Worms!
what are the most common types of worms that an iguana can get? My ig is an indoor lizard who doesn't come into contact with others and I don't know where he came down with them from. I took him to the vet about 2 weeks ago to get him treated. I brought in the worms and the vet said that they looked like tapeworms and treated him for them, but this morning I noticed more worms, and this time they are slightly larger (they are white to transparent, flat, and about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long) I went through all of the necessary precautions, cleaning and disinfecting EVERYTHING he has come into contact with which leads me to believe that he didn't pick them up again, but they never went away...all help is greatly appreciated!

What did the vet perscribe to get rid of the worms?
Parasites can easily be on the fresh greens you provide. It's important to wash them thoroughly before feeding.

Those still sound like tape worms to me. What you could be seeing is the dying ones being expelled from the body. They can come from the greens , as Dom has said. They can also come in from the outdoors on your shoes. They can't go very far on their own, but if you ig free-raoms and walks across the area the infected shoes were, this could do it. Or from your hands when you took your shoes off.
Remember after dosing your ig with a wormer...you need to replace the beneficial gut bacteria. Nutribac is easy to purchase from Reptile UV.

Thanks alot...i'm pretty careful about washing his greens, and he doesn't free roam any more, but he might have had them for a while before I noticed them, so it is a possibility...I dunno....do you think I should wait before making another vet appointment and getting him wormed again?

If you have completed the regimen and you are still seeing the worms, then yes...I would take him back in.
