Can You Over Feed an Ig?

My Kerm has been eating alot and getting big in the middle.

His diet is mostly collards, then mixed vegs and some fruit.

He has had a nesting box in his cage with cocofiber, so I couldn't tell if he pooped in the last 2 days. I thought he may be clogged, but I took it out yesterday and he's not.

Maybe he is just going through a growth spirt?

If he keeps this up he won't be able to fit through the holes of his new home in like a month.

As long as you are feeding a proper diet they won't over eat.

Igs get big. Plan a full grown enclosure now, he is going to need it sooner than you think!

I offer Dizzy as much as he will eat and then some every day. He's getting a 9x9in cake pan heaped with food now, but I may upgrade to a 9x13in pan soon.

Yup. Igs only eat as much as they want. Then they glare at you until you take the remains of their food out of their royal sight.

Though mine, at least, acts like he's never been fed in his life every time he eats. Greedy little thing.

Mine gets the occasional orange slice when my boyfriend eats one and he will bite anything that smells like orange, or looks like orange, or is near an orange.

He has a large breed dog food dish full a day now and is getting plump. I am planning a full grown enclosure hopefully this weekend.

I agree with everyone else, as long as you are feeding them the proper diet, let them have all that want! They go through growth spurts like kids, and when they are getting ready to grow, I have noticed that they increase their food intake by a lot!

Re: Can You Over Feed an Ig?

OK good, because I told someone a while back that you can't over feed an iguana they will eat what they want and leave the rest for you to dispose of. I was worried I gave bad info when he is eating two times more than before.
