You do need to seriously re-vamp the diet! Anything with lettuce in the name is worthless. Use the recommended greens. And try adding a 1/4 cup of water soaked RepCal brand pellets as a salad topper every 2-3 days. It will help get more fluid in the ig.

Canned pumpkin does work better as a laxative.
Not quite sure why. Maybe the fact that its cooked.
And occasional supplementation is fine.
Just not every day!

Please do read over the caresheets. They are full of useful information. You should also purchase a copy of "Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual" by James W. Hatfield, III. It's a wonderful resource!

Also, it could be that the humidity in the screen cage has gone down. You'll need to really be on top of that. They need high humidity.

Re: Iguana Bloating

In the "Green Iguana—The Ultimate Owner's Manual", it states that soaking an iguana in water will stimulate him to poop.
Some people actually use this fact to train their ig to only poop in the bathtub or in a water pan in the cage.

Once you read the caresheet and get the diet, temperature, and the UV light right, hopefully your iguana's poop cycle will become regular. And believe me, that's a blessing!! I've got my iguana trained to poop in the tub at 8am, and then again, at 3pm. It is soooo much easier to clean and more sanitary for the rest of the family. Just make sure the water is only warm and not too deep. I only use a little water, so he can still lay his head down without it being submerged.

Try to order that book or check it out at the library. It may seem dense, but it is really funny and informative.

Hope this helps.
