No chicken wire. It has a bad habit of causing igs to lose their toes. Go for some sort of plastic fencing or hardware cloth. Hardware cloth is woven, not twisted together with sharp pieces. Tin snips are great!

Re: Dog Kennel for Iguana

I THINK that the stuff she is talking about is plastic fencing that is made to look like chicken wire. Something like this... Tenax 3 Ft. x 25 Ft. Black Poultry Fence - 206866 at The Home Depot

I would think that as it doesn't have the metal to cut up feet, it SHOULD be safe. I have always thought that the reason the chicken wire is a no-no, is because of the twisted metal...

However, Kendalle, if you are actually talking about the metal chicken wire that is just coated in plastic, I think I would stay away from that...

Your cage for your ig, the aviary sounds neat too though.

Any ideas about what kind of metal is ok for the top? Like hardware cloth with bigger holes?

The top has to be metal because I put the heat lamps and light on it I don't want it in the cage where he could burn himself.

Well I couldn't help my self and so I put up his cage, although he can't move in yet. He can look at it :P.

Re: Dog Kennel for Iguana

You can get hardware cloth with holes greater than 1/4". I would probably go with 1/2" myself.

Re: Dog Kennel for Iguana

Yea, Walmart doesn't, the reason I was hoping they would is I figure they won't sell 50' rolls but cheap 6' or something. I can find lots of 36"x5' I need at least 48" by 5 foot and I can find lots of 4'x50' which is far more than I need and far too expensive. Grr I will find it soon.
