Hello all my iguana is shedding the skin on her head, well I noticed that there are several black dots and a line that runs down the back side of her eye on top the head just wondering if this is normal or if I need to get her to a vet and get it checked out thanks in advance.

They have a tendency to develop black spots and lines asthey get bigger....prolly just color coming in...but keep an eye and make sure none of the spots are moving like mites.....good luck....and if you havent had the ig to the vet for a well visit...now is the time...and have the poop tested for parasites.....Lyn

If it's raised it cold be a fungal (fuzzy) or bacterial (smooth) infection...and it could be thermal burns if to close to a heat source...but as Lyn said...it could be just a color change, too...especially if it is on both sides of the head. Most color changes happen on both sides. If you are really worried about...you should see a qualified herp vet. Something like this...especially without pics...is to vague to tell you what it might be for sure.

Thanks guys and gals. After looking at it closely today I think it is just color spots but I think I am going to find a vet to take her to anyway need to have here checked out comeing from a pet store and all. Plus better to be safe than sorry.
