Kermit's First Head Bob

My iguana is a very well mannered and never head bobs aggressively or not. and my roommate has a cat that is fascinated with him and always comes up and puts her foot in his cage or tries to look in and he never does anything... but the other day he was down on his nesting box (he's a she) and head bobbed at her.

To me it was the funniest thing and the least frightening thing but in animal speak she must have gotten that the head bob means I AM COMING OUT TO GET YOU and she ran so fast she couldn't stop and hit the cupboards (she's not hurt) hehe it was funny

Re: Kermit's First Head Bob

There is more than one type of head bob. Not all of them are aggression. A slow up and down is simply "Hi, this is MY place". A faster up and down is "Hey you! What do you think you are doing?" While a rapid up and down with quick side to side movements means "you better watch your fingers!"

Re: Kermit's First Head Bob

I know that there are more than one kind and they mean different things but kermit has never done it at all. however I just caught him doing it to our cat again and its a pretty quick headbob... i don't think he is just saying hi but he doesn't really act too angry either.

If its very rapid, he's warning the cat off.

Re: Kermit's First Head Bob

Dizzy only ever does the "Hey, how's it going?" bob, Taz, my old iguana used to get so worked up that he'd start bobbing his head and then shaking it and then it would radiate through his entire body before he took off after the offending object like a rocket.

(Taz hated cats, he killed 2 and bit the tail off of a 3rd, that's how we ended up with them)

Re: Kermit's First Head Bob

wow he does hate cats. kermit used to enjoy our cat marley he would feed her his food and things, but she does get annoying after a while. Like when she attacks your tail.
