I cant say that I have ever seen anything like that come out of any of my iguanas,, but I think if it was part of his insides you would have had problems right away, or shortly there after.

The vet said it definitely wasn't something he ate.

He was leaning towards a shedding of some sort from his hemepene? He said he has seen something just like it just a smaller scale before and it wouldn't suprise him because of the size of my iguana.

He just wants us to keep an eye on him carefully and if anything comes out abnormal to keep it and bring him in.

IGuanas will eat anything that will fit in their mouths especially if it looks like food. I have seen pictures of a sock that passed through an iguana (not pretty)....Luckily it came through without issue...but some things would cause issues...such as coins...good luck!

Critter has eaten a penny and also a plastic bread tag in his life! (years ago) The bread tag passed but the penny could still be in thee for all I know.

I may be wrong but I am not quite sure how he could determine that since he did not have the object and really had no idea what it actually was.
Their hemipenes are nowhere near that big!
And if it had actually been part of the igs body I would have expected there to be bleeding.
I still think it was something that he swallowed.

This is actually very serious if it's at all still a possibility. Pennies become very corrosive an in time often have serious consequences. I sure would feel better with an x-ray to be sure.

I don't see how that thing could possibly be from inside the ig either! It really looks like an ingested item. There was an iguana I had adopted out who had eaten a pair of the new keeper's girlfriends panties (also red) and a small walmart type plastic bag. They both came out ok, but it was a lesson learned for sure.

I agree... whatever that was, it was NOT an organic part of him. You are lucky that it came out without incidence. it could have caused a huge problem!

that would be the biggest hemipenes I have ever seen, lol. I have seen many (i do rescue) and that does not look anything like what it would look like. Matter of fact one of my males was kind enough to show me his today (barf) and he is a little smaller than yours,, and it is nowhere near that size, lol.

Now if we were talking tortoises, that would be a whole other story, lol

wow he's a big boy, how old is the ig (not the kid LOL) I hope mine grows that large. Gee at that size any burgler confronted by him would turn around and run, LOL. The first time I saw mine poop I said my god what is the white stuff? LOL so where does yours go......(potty) in your house? Can you catbox train these guys? Mine lives in a cage outdoors and so far he always goes in his bathtub lol.
