I keep Gil to 12-12. Of course when it's warm enough, he gets "real" UVB (aka the SUN).

For whatever it's worth, I just ordered a pair of those dome things from e-bay, and got a really good deal on them.

I have a question about what Rich wrote:

I do have a few of those ceramic heat emitters, and the info therewith said it needed an open 'clamp lamp', meaning one of those things with the sides open, almost looks like a metal cage around it. When you say a dome is required, do you mean a dome specifically, or simply that it should not be hanging out there on its own with no cover?

I think that the important part of the fixtures Rich was talking about is the ceramic fixture itself. (part that the bulb screws into) The advantage to having the dome vs the wire cage is that the dome will direct all the heat down or at least into the direction it is pointing, the wire cage allows a fair amount to escape the sides... Rich correct me if I'm wrong...
