What kind of lights?
What kind of UVB lights do any of you use? I've always used Iguana Light by Zoo Med but am having a really hard time getting one. The UVB in it is 5.0 so is a Reptiglo 5.0 ok? I think the iguana light is supposed to penetrate farther (12 inches).

Re: What kind of lights?
I use the Mega Rays. They are mercury vapors, last longer, cost roughly the same, penetrate farther, emit TONS more UV, and are simply the best lights I have ever used. lol
I use to use the reptisun 5.0 for a number of years, but they just aren't worth their weight anymore. If you want to investigate the mega ray, check this site out: Reptile UV |

Re: What kind of lights?
Go with the megaray, you won't regret it! They last longer and are better all around. If you refuse to go that route, I'd look for a repti-sun 10.0. I believe Repti-glo and Zoo-med are both reputable, stay away from ESU or anything you have never heard of.

Re: What kind of lights?
Well, I am having a really hard time getting any kind of light. I've been all over town - we only have about 4 places that carry lights. I bought a Reptiglo 5.0 but it sure looks puny compared to the Iguana Light. I am not very confident that it will be any good, but the store will take it back. One pet store has a Reptisun(I think) 8.0. Another store in the next town can get me an Iguana Light by next week or I will check out the one Rich recommended, but ordering online is challenging for me.
All in all,what a pain. |

Re: What kind of lights?
MegaRay... all the way! If you're using tube flourescents, you'll need TWO lights and have them within about 6 inches of your ig.
The MegaRays just make more sense IMO. ![]()
