Pics of my Ig's black spots.
Hi. I recently put up a thread concerning my lizards skin with black spots on it. I am pretty sure that it was just cause it was getting enough light cause it is turning green now but I am posting some pics anyway. please tell me what you think. i have also included some pics of my ig's temporary setup until I am finished building his new one (pics coming soon) The pics are in order of most recent to least recent the one withthe big log in his setup is the most recent one.

That iguana had outgrown that cage long before you put him in it, get to work on the new one!

Lacey I have spoken with him and the new cage is in the works.
Chris the closeups are too blurred to make an identification but judging from what I can see it looks like they may be thermal burns which are injuries from getting against something hot. Can you post some better closeups?

my igs photo's reply to merlin and Lacey
I most definitely could try to take some less blury pics. the black spots have been turning green but I don't think that they are burn spots because they were under layers of dead skin. i think it is because the skin underneath his shedding skin didn't get any light so it didn't produce any color. And Lacey the new cage is already begun to be built it is 4' by 4' by 6' tall. but thanks for the concern. i am putting some plants init and a fake rock wall so that he can climb and the live plants are so that he has fresh oxygen I am putting a spider plant on top of his cage it is edible and won't hurt him as well as will help with the moisture. i need some advice with his tube lights though I bought some UVB tube bulbs but don't know how to set them up in his cage. the mesh on top of the cage is very fine mesh that will filter the light so I am sticking the lights inside the cage but not where he can reach them any advice on how to do this? thanks.

![]() www.reptileuv.com the SB series is what you want. you can just hang these bulbs using a dome fixture, and no worry about losing any UVB rays. Plus, they are cheaper...combo hoods cost some money.. |

The spots are definitely too blurry to draw a conclusion from, I would take him to the vet for a check up and to get a fecal test done just so you can start a medical history and so that the vet knows you. I would also double check for mites, I've seen them do alot of damage that resulted in a loss of scales which exposed large areas of black skin.

wow I wish it was as easy as using that mite=off stuff for me. Having mites was a nightmare, I still get all nervous when I see a litte speck of something stuck to one of them...I cross my fingers and pray that it isnt a mite!

i cannot return the bulbs and they should work fine. I was wondering on how well a fogger will do in his new cage. it is a bowl that is filled with water with a pump in it that changes colour so that the iguana can still at night and will help with the humidity of the cage. what do u think of this?
