Iggy with burn has made progress

Sean post around Christmas about his iggy that had a strange coloration to his side. It ended up being a burn form his previous owner using heat rocks in his cage. (Original post pictures are near the bottom) Iguana Problem

We went through the burn pealing off, pink flesh oozing. finally regeneration of new scales and frantic calls to the vet! Sean was driving me and the vet NUTS! Each month the burn area get smaller and smaller, look at it today!

Now that it has healed he has become a lot more friendly, I can put my hand in the cage and he doesn't hiss or open his mouth to try and eat me...

Ohhhh! Poor baby! I hate burns. But it sounds like he's had the best nurses! I'm happy to hear he is healing.

I'm glad it's healing so well, do keep in mind that there may be internal trama as well. I remember reading in Hatfield's book about an ig with a burn scar... they found internal damage years later when they did the necropsy. I'm not sure what you can do about it now, but I'd definitely make sure he keeps well hydrated, etc.

That's good, I hate hearing about iguana's getting hurt. They're such a peaceful animal that doesn't deserve pain. =(

Thanks for all the nice words. It has been a challenge but it looks like we made it through. I'll have to ask the vet if she has heard anything about internal damage from burns. Like Steph said there isn't much we can do about it now. Just have to take the best care we can of him from now until when ever.... Lets see he is somewhere between 12-15 how many more years will that be lol
