Playing Dead?

Ok...here's is my story. My new hatchling surinam local green ig was sold to me from a breeder who handles his babies daily and hand feeds them from the time they come out of the egg. its not agressive , but ive noticed something weird. When I try to pick it up out of its cage, it runs around, but when I do get it in my hand it goes limp, it closes its eyes and its head falls to the side. and then when I put it back in its cage, it lays on the floor like it was dead. But when I come back, its up on its branch basking itself. Sometimes though it lets me pet it when its up on its branch, other times it runs away. Now it could be that its just pretty tame little ig, because I have never heard or an ig playing dead. But the way it acts doesnt seem to me that it just likes sitting in my hand, i think that it is playing dead. If I turn my hand side to side when its in it, its head is limp and it flops to which ever way im moving my hand. I was just curious if anyone has heard of any kind of behavior like this.

I have heard of them zoning out but not in that way. Curious is he on his back when this happens?

Hello,

Would you happen to have pictures of your iguana? Green iguanas normally exhibit a fight or flight response. I have never heard of them playing dead.

It would be great if you could post some pictures of the iguana playing dead.

If the iguana is playing dead, it isn't because it is tame. It is doing so because it is petrified. Some other animals in the world use that tactic to avoid predators.
