Hi Mary and welcome to HCN. She definatley needs a UVB light, has she not had one in the past? I'm sure she is stressed due to the enviroment change and will need sometime to adjust. Continue to offer her food. Is there anyway you can get a picture of the bump, it maybe easier to help you with that. Also here is a link to the ig caresheet. There will be more ig owners here to help you shortly.

The bump may be an abcess or something else. You should take her to the vet for it and an initial wellness check. There are many things that regular checkups will catch. And yes a picture will help. And you need a light that specifically provides UVB. UVA is easy to provide since most lighting provides it. Check out this link for important UVB information. It includes a section on how to correctly set up fluorescent tubes. http://www.cyber-ig-info.netfirms.com/uvb_light.htm

hello and welcome to HCN. the first thing thats in order is to make a vet appointment as with any new animal..and especially for an iguana with a possible health problem. Then i'd go out and get a book on iguanas and read it cover to cover. the best books are "iguanas for dummies" by: melissa kaplan and "Green Iguana: the ultimate owner's manual" by: james hatfield. And the best websites are www.greenigsociety.org or www.anapsid.com.

The bump on her face may prevent her from eating, so you really do need to go see a vet. I'm sure Merlin will be along soon with his list of site to find good herp vets on.
Can I ask what you are feeding her by chance?

Welcome Mary!
Its not uncommon for an iguana to refuse to eat for a few days following a move to a new location. It needs time to settle in and feel secure.

The bump may be an abcess and will need to be seen by a vet.

How big is the iguana, how are you housing it and what are you feeding it?

For a listing of reptile vets check out www.herpvetconnection.com and www.arav.com
