Great to see you Mike. Looks female to me too.

If an iguana is not properly cared for, it will postpone all the natural things that are supposed to happen, along with stunting development and growth.

Many poorly cared for females never go gravid until they are finally cared for properly, all the husbandry is corrected and then bingo! They go gravid for the first time in their lives.

Same is true for males and first heat. Poorly cared for males may never have it, then when husbandry is corrected they experience it full-blown at a later point in life.

Mike, she definitely needs some tender loving care. She's a beautiful creature and tough as nails to make it this far. Get her some good UVB exposure and a good diet. Supplement with soaked RepCal to improve hydration and NutriBacDF to tighten up her digestive system and she should start improving rapidly in no time at all!

Glad you have her now.

I didn't know that. That is SOOO ironic! The world is a funny place. I'm sure that there have been poorly treated iguanas that stayed alive, then got rescued into good health, got gravid, and then died as a result of egg binding. Of course it's better to live a short happy life than a long sad life, but it just seems so ironic and unfair, the way things are in this world sometimes. Well, that's NOT going to happen to me! I'm a fighter!

Mike, please check out our Iguana Diet. You'll want to start feeding Tubbie the items in the "Staple" section. These are your best everyday items to help her achieve (and keep) good health.

Carrots and banana are alright for an occasional treat, but Romaine (and all types of lettuce) has no nutritional value and should be avoided.
