OT- Our iguana adoption

Hey Gang,
Broke down and rescued the iguana I have been looking at bringing home for a little over a week now. She deserves a good 'forever' home and we decided we'll be that home for her. She has been through a lot and has some burn scars to show for it. The approximation I received was full grown 4 year old female. Here are some photos of the new arrival along with some close ups of her scarring. She is 36 inches snout to tail tip and 13 inches snout to vent. I'll follow up later on in the week once we get her into the vet and get her weight and overall health assessed. Still undecided on the name, the store said no name was left when she was dropped off there.

Here she is overall length

From the rear

First meal in the new home, yum, collard greens and endive/escarole

Licking her lips, looks like she is smiling

Enjoying some fresh air & afternoon sun

Her section of the office

One of the few smaller scars/skin abnormalities

The large scar/skin abnormality

I don't have much data on the scars, the staff at our store said they are pretty certain they are burn wounds from some time ago. I'll have the vet look at them and have solicited some other folks to look at them just to make sure they are on the mend for sure as I have never dealt with a reptile burn before. She is a sweety and we are glad to have her in our home.

How do you secure the planks that lead up to the basking platforms? I don't think it looks you just put them there, so I presume you fasten it somehow?

Oh she's a pretty girl, scars and all!
I love the gaping mouth pic, she does look in a good mood, lol.
Great job on the rescue and providing a forever home to one who needs it. It's such a shame what some igs have to go through, but at least you can now give her the love and care every ig deserves.

I just notice this. Did the previous owner trim the spikes on her back or something? It looks like the sharp ends have all been cut off the dorsal spikes, and it looks to regular and consistent over the whole back for it to have happened accidentally.

Taz's spikes were all broken off like that when I got him too, I think it is just due to improper care and bad sheds becauseof poor humidity. The spikes that weren't broken off had about 4 layers of shed on them and were being constricted. Alot of them broke off as well.

By the way, this is my boyfriend's brother Pat with Taz right before we rehomed him.
