iguana puberty

Hi guys, I have noticed that Gandhi started out with a body that was 1/3 his total length and now his tail has grown much longer and his body hasnt.....
3 mo ago when we got him: 6 in snout to vent length 18 in snout to tail length
now: 7 in snout to vent length 25 in snout to tail length
I am curious if iguanas go through awkward growth periods like puppies who have huge paws and ears but then grow into their bodies and even out over time? Is Gandhi likely to even out or will he have a freakishly long tail and a little body?

Yes and then the body catches up! However 2/3 of the length wil be tail. Assuming that you can get him to adulthood with an intact tail.

actually I am lucky-Gandhi has never tail whipped since we got him. He is a pretty mellow youngster most of the time. And I am feeling fairly superstitions, Merlin, so shush on the tail breakage talk! I actually had a dream the other night that he lost his tail. He would certainly be a more convenient size then LOL.

Merlins right with the intact tail!
My girl Iggie had 5 or so inches amputated due to Dry gangrene, now the end of her tail looks really funny, I keep hoping it will look more normal but after 4yrs I dont think its gonna change much.

Oh my god, I wish you could have seen my first few posts on this forum-I was having nightmares just like that the whole first month we had Gandhi!!!
Atleast Im not alone. He was either too cold or suffering from some horrible disease I had read about in a book or some other nasty thing.....

Wow, some dreams you guys have! That'd scare the poop outta me. I mostly dream about being chased by dead people. (But then again, I love 'em cause I'm a big living dead fan, lol)
I think if I woke from a dream like yours, I'd have to go get my Iggies and bring them to bed with me for snuggles.
