How long has your Iguana lived?

After reading the Frequently asks Iguana Questions that stated: "An iguana properly cared for can live in excess of 20 to 25 years… this is a long time." I was wondering if this fact was true? The one we inherited is about 12 years old and we were told at the time maybe 15-16 year life expectancy? What is your experience?

My current one is 4 years old. My first one lived for 10 years despite the fact that I did everything wrong that I could possibly do!
I beleive the oldest iguana I have ever heard of was 29.

I had a male that lived 16 yrs. And that was back in the days when you hoped you could get a ride into town to do your research at the library.

I'm not sure of the ages of any of the iguanas that I have cared for because they have all been rescued. The one I have now is still young, probably about 2 at the oldest. The last guy I took in had lived with one family for 6 years in a 55 gallon tank, but they weren't his first owners so there is no telling how old he was.
I'm looking forward to another 20 years with Diz, i'm just glad we're out of the "dark ages" of reptile husbandry...i'm young i've always had the internet to guide me in my reptile keeping, I probably wouldn't have herps if I didnt have all of this information readily available to me.

Let's see in 6 more years Sean's go off to college. That would make Lizzy around 18. Another 4-6 years of college, he might get him back as a graduation present. But at our house everything out lives it life expectancy. LOL

Yes Colleen, that would work for me. However the frigidity of Michigan would be a little too detrimental to my love for warmth so I suppose I'll just have to stay down here in Florida.

I"v had my ig, Bob err Blob, for about 10.25 years. Got him in August of 1995 and he currently lives in my apartment as I am at school -- only 8 more weeks of classes and I AM DONE. <this is where I spike the keyboard on the ground right>
