Iguana spikes question

Hello! My green iguana is about 2 years old. I've noticed that his spikes on his back have recently become bent and almost pinkish. I was wondering if this could be a warning sign that something could be wrong with him. He seems fine other than his spikes.

I appreicate any of your comments or advice!

Are they bent at an angle or just curved? Some have curves and some have straight spikes. Mine has curved floppy spikes.

Could the pink-ish color be him going into season? Can you post a pic?

I am working on getting photos posted--but as of right now we do not have anyway of doing that. Rocky's spikes are bending to the right mostly, and they're very flimsy. They used to be straight up and down and very firm. The other problem is that I'm not exactly sure if Rocky is a Roxanne. He/she has never laid eggs, so I don't know if he or she is going into season or not. He is a bit more aggressive and less tolerant to me holding him/her. I don't know.

Thanks for responding. I hope to have pictures soon!

Dor, try to get some pics of the underside of Rocky's thighs. We should be able to tell you if it's Rocky or Roxanne.

Does Rocky sleep under anything (blanket, paper, etc.) I have a friend who's ig sleeps under a blanket and his spikes are flopped over too.

Iggie has spikes that are all goofy! She sleeps under her blanket and heat pad, she likes to be under all of it rather than on top.

It does make shedding a little bit harder I have to really keep a eye on them, constantly bathing and using mineral oil on the ones that are stubborn. They don't seem to bother her, just looks a little funny

Here is a pic of Iggie that shows her spikes, some of them anyway.
There is a link at the bottom of page that you can check out with more of her pics.

Alright Nat, since you saved the picture of Iris I'm saving this picture of Iggie, she is a very pretty girl, i bet Dizzy would go gaga over an iguana as attractive as she is

Diz sleeps underneath of his blankets and heating pad also, so this might contribute to his curved spikes. Luckily he never has trouble shedding them.

Rocky sleeps inside an open bookshelf on a small dog bed cushion. He usually just rests his chin on the cushion--so cute! I will look at pics of other iguanas to see if his spikes look "normal". We are also going to try to get some pics today with my
husbands cell phone. (There's some way to import the pics from there I guess.) I'm starting to think that Rocky may be a girl based on the photos of Dizzy and Iggy--or he just has a girl face!!!

Thanks again for responding!

I think there is a way to upload pictures from your cellphone using www.photobucket.com and it's free, I don't have a cellphone though, so I couldn't tell you if it works.
