Bob Escaped!!!!
Anyone have any good ideas on how to catch and escaped iguana? he's just a little thing...this isn't the first time he's escaped either. We usually find him running around. I'm open to suggestions for finding the little bugger.
thanks ~Locklynn

take a big 5-gallon bucket and put vaseline on the inside walls of it. then, have some means of making a ramp to the mouth of the bucket and put some of his favorite foods in the bottom of the bucket. It's best if the food has a strong smell too. this has probably never been done before, but I have always been trying to find the right way to trap a lizard. It's worth a try anyways. he'll crawl in after the food and wont be able to get back out.

Well, that's no good. When one of my animals escapes I turn out of the lights and just listen.Simple. Since this will not work with iguanas ( turning off the lights) you might want to try the same thing only in the morning or whenever this individual is fed. Make sure the whole house is quiet. I also like the idea GeckoGuy had.
Those traps that Kevman has mentioned can be extremely dangerous. The doors close fast and will break legs and tails. All depends on the size of the trap. But, I personally do not trust those traps. -Jason |

he's in our living room...somewhere....i suggested to my boyfriend to turn the ac on so it gets fairly cold in here so he might be drawn to his heat lamp? think that might work?

Igs are good climbers so look in your drapes (both sides), between your furniture and the wall (look up and down) as also on the top side.
We tend always to look down on the floor but they might be higher than that.

My girl, Iggie, almost always goes for the blankets or clothes and hides under them.
Then there is the closet, she has only hid there two times. She is a free roamer in my bedroom but she likes to hide from me and gives me quite the scare! I have a special screen attached on the outside over the original one(its bolted into the wall) so she cant get out. Just a note, Don't expect him to come running if you call him, they seem to ignore you! Its like playing hide and seek the little turds.Anyway good luck hope you find the little bugger soon ![]()

I also would suggest looking in a high area, the smaller Ig's tend to seek the comfort of the trees to escape predation. I also keep those live traps around for just such an occasion (usually with the hamsters).
