against the rules?
O.K. Here goes, we have a eastern painted turtle for the last several years. Now the question. If we build a 6*10 or an 8*10 room with a pond, waterfall, lighting and heating appropiate. Is it possible to keep an Iguana and turtle together? What if we start with a smaller Iguana? Please don't hesitate to repl

Siberian, since you're considering what to get, I'd recommend that you don't get an ig if you're fairly new to keeping herps. They require a lot of specialized care and can be difficult especially during breeding season. If you really have your heart set on an ig, then I'd recommend adoption; there are so many that are given up once they start to get big. If you do get one, we're here to help in any way we can.
I wouldn't recommend keeping an ig with any other critter.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're new to igs. Turtles are no walk in the park either and their care is often underestimated. You'd have to be able to provide UVB lighting that could reach the turtles and the ig too, and you'd probably need a full water change daily. The turtle may eat the ig poo too if it lands in the water. Although a varied diet is important, I think poo is excluded

I agree it is not wise to mix species in general and not wise to mix ANYTHING with an iguana, even another iguana!
Turtles are omniverous and require meat in their diet while igs should not have any meat protein in theirs. It will be impossible to keep the two from eating the others food. the iguana is going to view the turtle's pool as its own private toilet and this isn't healthy for the turtle! There is also the problem of cross contamination. In otherwords internal micro organisms in one species that the other would never normally encounter. While the host species may not have any problem with them due to naturally occuring immunity it could be disasterous for the cagemate.

I agree, if you have that much space you could split the difference and house 2 types of tortoise in there, maybe a russian and a redfoot. I have one of each (not housed together though) and they are extremely good pets. Less work than turtles or igs but they still need specialized care.

Jay is right with all that room add another turtle, it would be impossible to keep the ig and the turtle healthy in the same enviroment.
