hey im looking to buy possibly adopt a lizard and I have a snake but don't have any experience with lizards. i've been doing research trying to find the best one for an amateur. i've always wanted an iguana, though! i have a friend that lives in St Louis, MO. i live in SC so if it was at all possible when he comes to visit Louie could possibly travel with (if I could go through with this). i have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 3 birds, and a snake. i also have a younger sister (although I don't think that she would be too interested in him lol) he would be kept in my room. has he ever been taken on walks? i thought that would be interesting to do. i love all reptiles and I would take very good care of Louie. i've heard, though that if they are not given some sort of attention every day they can get aggressive. is this true? i wouldn't have any problems, though. if you do not think this would work could you point me in a direction to what kind of lizard you think I could get. i am looking for one fairly cheap to keep in mind. i would like to get a baby. well I must be on my way for a short while I will keep in touch ...

Bianca, Louie has already been adopted.

Before you make the leap into iguana ownership, I HIGHLY recommend that you buy and READ this book:

Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual

It will really help you understand what to expect. If you still want to own an ig after reading that book we can direct you to several adoption resources.

Bianca iguanas are most definately not a starter lizard. They get very large and can be dangerously aggressive. You most definately could not walk them as you would a dog. They have very specific diet and lighting requirements and an adult will require a cage the size of a small room!
Check out our iguana care sheet.
For a starter lizard look into leopard geckos or bearded dragons.

nogardretaw: Look into leopard geckos! They are really cool, and fairly easy to look after. There is a caresheet right in this site about them (look into the caresheets section).
