The UV spectrun has an enormous difference in the spectrum feild.

Quote:
UVA is the visible light which is thrown from bulbs and the sun which
we can actually see. UVA plays an important role in the animals behavior.
UVA light tells the animal when it is day, induces appetites, breeding
behavior and other activities such as climbing, running, jumping and
hunting.

UVB is not visible. It is a form of radiation put out by the sun and
special coated bulbs made to produce UVB wavelengths. UVB in reptiles
allows the animal to process calcium in their system which helps
to prevent and reverse metabolic bone disease. UVB in excess amounts
can be harmful to both humans and animals causing problems such as
damage to the retina of the eyes, burns and other health risks. UVB is
what causes humans to suntan and sunburn. It is important to control the
UVB lighting, or if using natural sunlight, to give the animal shade and areas where they can escape the constant exposure of UVB.

UVC is the wavelength used for Ultraviolet Sterilizers which kill
harmful bacteria. This is a very dangerous wavelength to all animals
as it can damage DNA.
UVB is what your ig needs to metabolize the pre-vitamin D3 it gets from it's diet in to usable vitamin D3. This si what allows your ig to absorb calcium. Without UVB you ig WILL get Metabolic Bone Disease. Please do google search. Type in "Metabolic Bone Disease iguana" and read everything so you understand it better. This is NOT an option to go without until the weather gets better. As Merlin said, Your ig will be sick by then.

Errr, your link brought me to the lamp used for holding the bulb. Which bulb do you use? The bulbs are clearly marked and you should be able to tell what light you are using. I keep my basking temp around 90, because my ig feels very comfortable there and if she gets overheated, she moves, unlike other igs will not. Here are some food items I use to feed mind:
Collard, Mustard, Dandelion, and Turnip Greens
Nappa, Savoy, and Chinese Cabbage
Escarole, Radicchio, Bok Choy
Squash, zucchini, bell peppers

Those are a few examples. I give heavy amounts of the greens because they have the best calcium to phosphorous levels (calcium good, phosphorous BAD) with a fruit as an occasional treat. Hope this helps!!!

Also with lighting, if you do not use the UVB, you can search the net and find pics of the Igs that have MDB, which may look very disgusting and even scary. These pics have scared new owners into purchasing the right lights for their pets. I am not saying this as trying to 'scare' you into buying the proper lights, but it will show you how important these lights truely are. You can give your ig all the calcium possible in the food you feed them, but nothing can help metabolize this calcium unless you have the lights.

The cabbages and the bok choy should be fed only once in a great while if at all, not on a daily basis. Collard, mustard, turnip and dandelion greens are your staples and should comprise about 70-80% of the diet. The escarole is also good The squashes (orange type) green peppers, green beans, etc should comprise about 10-15% with fruit being added for variety and moisture.

Cabbages and Bok Choy don't get too much rotation in my diet, I am a big greens user and I give them veggies 3 times a week. Good thing you got your stuff together, so your ig won't have any problems!
