Oh, I did not mean to sound so harsh, and I am sorry if I did. I hope that the info has been helpful to you. Shell is right, we are just the unspoken voice of the animals and all we want is what is best for them. Maybe someday when I retire I will have that property to do my own ecosystem, lol (chances are slim, but it is a nice dream to have, lol )

Re: Iguanas Plus Frogs

The problems with dividers as you suspected is there is still a visual stress and animals may injure themselves attempting to get at the other animals. It also will not stop pathogens and parasites from moving between species.
And what started out as a proper sized enclosure, once divided up becomes much too small for any of the inhabitants.

I appreciate the help, I just don't want anyone to think I would hurt my pets on purpose, which is why I asked here before I did anything.

Nobody here is trying to come off as unfriendly. In fact if you look around the site I think you will see we are the friendliest forum around.
We just tend to be very passionate about these animals and their care. There are several here who do rescue and rehab work and who see first hand what happens when people make serious mistakes in husbandry.

If you even look back far enough in the forums you'll see I wanted to try my own multi species tank, i was persuaded not to, and chances are that was a god thing, at the time I had'nt really considered the parasites and stress, just the habitat and animal behavior compatibility, its understandable.

Sometimes I recommend dividers for same species co-occupants if the enclosure is big enough. The dividers, of course, have to be opaque, or at the least clearly block out the territory of one animal from the other. Otherwise it will cause stress to the animals.

Multi-species, I still probably would recommend against if only for that pesky risk of disease. Even without that, though, you'd still have to make sure they can both take the same temperatures and humidity, plus you'd have to work it so that they still have their own basking areas and cool areas, which, depending on the set up, can be a real pain.

Really, it's so much easier to get each animal their own set up than to try to divide off one. The only reason I ever recommend it is when someone is determined to get multiple animals and has limited space. Sometimes a divided cage can be a space saver.

I'd be cautious dividing different species, but if you can basically create two separate enclosures from one, you shouldn't have a problem. (For instance, attached snake enclosures are essentially a divided cage, but the division is complete enough that they make two or more separate enclosures.)

Yes, It can feel a bit humbling to have an idea and have it dashed upon the rocks. But, no one here would ever think that you would hurt your pets on purpose. What you are going through is called a learning curve. Relax and feel assured that you are among friends here.

We are just happy that you took the time to ask! Many people wouldn't care enough to, or even if they did ask, wouldn't listen to what advice was given to them and would just do what they want...
