Am I doing well?
I just wanted to check to see if my ig and I are developing a good relationship. Here's the stats of where we are now:
He'll readily eat out of my hand if I feed him while I'm holding him. He scurries away any time I put my hand in his cage. He sometimes will let me feed him while he's in his cage (but only if I corner him first). Once I've got him, he doesn't really struggle much.

Sounds like you are on track to me
Young iguanas (assuming he is young) are just like that...the fact that you can handfeed him means you are getting on his good side...he flees in his cage because of instinct...as he gets older, he will adjust and the instinct will calm down and stop eventually...great job!!! I am proud of you....Lyn

Just remember not to drop your guard around him when he is mature, especially in the spring.

I'm actually not quite sure "he's" a "he" yet. When I first got him, I was excited and wanted a male, so I started calling him a male name. Now, however, after reading all about bredding aggression, I'm kind of hoping I'll have to change "his" name to Lucy. Of course, I'll love him no matter what. Fiesty is good, too.

I have a male Ig named Nadia! He doesn't seem to care that he has a girls name, so your Ig won't know the diff if he/she has a wrong sexed name either.
I just get funny looks from people when they asked his name and they say "What?" And they laugh at me! ![]()
