Re: Venom

What we were always told in school is that everything is toxic or venomous to something else. Usually this results in infection rather than poisoning. This has been an interesting thread.

Re: Venom

yea it has changed topic alot but bottom line in Igs aren`t venomous in a way that will affect humans. But I still am curious if the toxins could have an affect on small dogs or cats that got in the iguanas way?

Re: Venom

i would worry about the teeth before anything else!!! the "technically venomous" description goes very deep, a whole new concept in the way we look at herps. It is just interesting and nothing to worry about...your cat is safe from iguana "venom", if you could even call it that

Re: Venom

I would be more worried about the cat biting the iguana,, cats have very nasty germ infested mouths, lol. I have been bitten enough times by iguanas,, then I was bit by a feral cat and that one earned me a nice shot of antibiotics in the rump, and a series of different antibiotics. My finger swelled so huge I had to have the rings cut off Up until that point I had no idea cats had that much bacteria in their mouths. Now it always makes me laugh when people say EWWWW dont you worry about getting bit by your slimy lizards and snakes. I respond back,, No,, I worry more about your cat biting me. People are amazed to find out that their cute furry cat has a nastier mouth than an iguana ever thought of having, lol
