Humidity problem

Ok I got my enclosure done. The problem is I cant get the humidity up in it.I'm using a cool mist humidifier with a 150 watt basking light. The temps are just right.I really dont want to mist it every day due to I dont know what effect it will have on the wood panel's.Meaning mold or mildew or whatever bacteria may form if any.I had the basking light on top of the enclosure and the humidifier inside of it and the humidity was very low. Then I took the basking light inside the enclosure over top of the cool mist about 10 inches and still no change in the humidity.Am I doing somthing wrong? Please any help, thanks.

Re: Humidity problem

If you sealed the wood well misting should not be a problem.
If I recall your enclosure is fully enclosed, not a mesh wall?
Is it possible that your humidity gauge is off?

I havent put any kind of seal on the wood at all,if thats what you mean.I have only caulked all the gaps and seams.Yes its totally enclosed except for the top it has a wire mesh screen for the lights to get through. Its only 2 foot wide and 4 foot long.Thats on a top thats 4 foot by 4 foot.I have tried 3 types of gauges and all tell the same story, low humidity and good temps.Maybe its the humidifier, its kinda old.So I will go tomorrow and buy a new one.Are the actually suppose to blow out mist?If so mine is not, just cool air.

Re: Humidity problem

Yes you should see a visible mist coming from the machine.
And I would seal the wood with a water based polyurethane. Left bare even the humidity will cause it to deteriorate.
Of course you will need to remove the ig while it cures out.

Thats what I thought, mine has no visible mist.So i'm off to get a new one.Yes I will certainly seal it then.I havent put my ig in there yet,due to all the caulk not being dry or cured yet. Thanks for all your help with this.

Re: Humidity problem

Went and bought a new humidifier guess what?IT WORKS!!!!,lol. That enclosure looks awesome now that I have decor in it.With that humidifier its like a fog in there now it rocks.Just about 10 minutes after I got it all hooked up.The humidity went up to 76% and still climbing. All my gauges are reading just about the same on every level. You truley have to see this in person to appreciate what it looks like now.All I have to do is seal it and some minor things and its done.I know I said it was done but i'm finding little odd things here and there. So better safe then sorry to fix them all now. Will post pictures later in my album.
