Freya's Surgery

Freya had her surgery on Friday. Friday she actually felt really good when we picked her up, no pain for the first time in a long time. She came through the surgery really well. She is on pain meds for a few days, and gets the bandage removed next week to have it checked. She is also still on calcium and antibiotics. Today (Saturday) she was not feeling quite as wonderful, but is doing well. All systems are working, and she is eating. I can't keep a water bowl in with her at this point, in case she would decide to crawl in, but am giving her fluids several times a day. Friday night she wanted to walk all over the place, no crooked tail in the way! She scared the vet though, around noon on Friday after the surgery the vet found Freya on her back in the cage, and thought she was dead. Freya had just got herself turned upside down and couldn't get back up! Last week she also started shedding all over instead of just on her head! Yea! Her arms and legs haven't shed yet though.

Poor thing! Looks like she has on a diaper!
At least all that infection will not be going into her system. Now she can get better!

poor girl. She will figure out how to right herself, its just going to take some time. She's a fighter, she'll make it just fine.

Yes, she is wearing a diaper. It is to keep her from getting her bandage wet or dirty. If the bandage becomes wet it has to be changed immediately. It is on fairly tight because there was so much bleeding and fluid loss. She's not quite as peppy today, but doing ok. Having a harder time keeping heat up, we have 30mph winds and up and 10 inches of snow over 2 inches of ice, our house is heated by a wood furnace, so it stays around 80 degrees! Feels good after being outside.
