Starting to build the custom enclosure today
Just wanted you all to know i'm starting to build my 2 iguana's enclosure today. It will be 8 foot long, 6 foot high, 3 and a 1/2 foot deep.
So each iguana will have its own 4 foot section to be housed in. I can actually go 7 foot high. I will know more as I frame up to that point. I will take pic's as I go and will post them.
So wish me luck,lol.
p/s The 2 will be separated from one another, forgot to add that.

Re: Starting to build the custom enclosure today
Documenting the effort is a great idea amd may help someone else contemplating the same type of enclosure!

Re: Starting to build the custom enclosure today
Good luck! Take your time and remember: measure twice, cut once... saves time, frustration and LOTS AND LOTS of money!
Look forward to seeing the pics of your progress!

Re: Starting to build the custom enclosure today
You might make it so the center divider is easy to remove someday when you need to get adult enclosures, that way you can modify that and only have to build one other cage. Something to keep in mind, take lots of notes and pictures to show us the process.

Re: Starting to build the custom enclosure today
Ok here is the framed base.the top is not nailed down yet.I need to trim the board's,thats just a rough look at it.I will be using peel and stick tile, its a granite texture looks really nice. That will go on top of the boards that I still need to trim on top. That will be their bottom to walk on.Will post more as I have time to work on it.I still need to frame the top section, will do that this coming weekend.

Re: Starting to build the custom enclosure today
Ok this bottom pic lost me? How is this going to be 6 or 7 feet tall? Is this the base which the cage will sit on? What will be the internal dims of the cage as seen by each lizard?

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Not only is that enclosure going to be huge... it will be HEAVY. I recently tore down an 8x8x3 that took 4 grown men to move one half at a time. As you proceed, be thinking of ways to make it modular for ease of moving.
