Re: new rescue

Well hopefully all will be well with her, I had one come in a year and a half ago like that. he is still alive and looking great. I would definately ask about the reptile panel though to see how her kidneys are functioning. They also have meds for the kidneys that will sometimes help. Is the tail infected,, does it have a foul smell to it?

Re: new rescue

The vet is hoping more of the tail will come back, but figures some amputation is unavoidable. There is no foul smell yet from it. She did go potty this morning. She has a long road ahead of her and that's better than being IN the road! We are trying to maintain our sense of humor, although we were all pretty ornery last night that someone would do this and think they were doing right by the animal.

Re: new rescue

That poor ig! (Anyone else feel like breaking some of that guys bones and leaving him out in the snow?)
Good luck with everything Barnkat. I guess it's a good sign that she's eating and drinking and her bowels are working.
I hope she makes it. Keep us posted!

Re: new rescue

I am with you Andrea,, however they have laws if we do that to people.
It seem like I feel like that at least twice a week, lol.
As far as him thinking he is doing right by the animal,,, he knew he was not,,, there is no way you can look at her and think what a wonderful job he was doing,. He knew,,, that was just an excuse! It does not take a genius to know what starvation looks like.
Once again good for you for helping her,,, my thoughts and prayers will be with you and her for quite some time,, please keep us posted!

Can I ask what are you feeding her?

Re: new rescue

Good job on the rescue,we need more people like you in this world.I just dont understand people.Oh LOOK at that iguana lets get it and not take care of it.That makes me mad as ****.It would be nice if these people would get treated the way they treat their animals.Hope all goes well with the iguana.

Re: new rescue

We have named the iguana Freya. She is already showing signs of some improvement, but her broken bones still bother her. She acts like she's never had squash, green beans, strawberries, raspberries, papaya, or anything tasty before. She will grab it put it in her mouth and roll it around squeezing the juices out and making a blissful face, and tongue movements. She no longer attacks you if you take her plate out, as she knows it will come back full. The paralysis in her one back leg is loosening up a little. The other back leg is beginning to bear some weight for a few seconds. She potties a normal looking poop now. Her energy level is a little better too. She is swimming more in her water bath.

Fantastic!!! That is SO good to hear! Ken and I were getting a good laugh reading about her enjoying her food so much.
