which is the best
Hi all, I have a question. I'm using 3 different digital temp and humd gauges.2 are made by acu-rite,one with the probe wire and the other without the probe. The third one is a flukers. The thing is they all read different temps and humd.I have placed one of each kind in the same enclosure, but all three are reading crazy.I replaced all batteries with new one's,still the same outcome. One will read hi,another will read like 89% and the other will read like 81%.These numbers are for the humidity. The temps are pretty close to one another.A degree or 2 here and there.Would the one with the probe be my best bet?

Re: which is the best
Hello,
The probe isn't measuring the humidity. The base unit measures the humidity. The probe is solely for sensing heat, so it has no impact at all on the humidity readings. If you are placing the humidity gauges in the same spot, and each are showing a different reading, you are in a bind. lol Its tough to say which is accurate. I would actually add the three readings, divide the sum by 3, and that will give you the "average" reading between the three. At least this way, you will be within %5 or so of an accurate depiction. |

Re: which is the best
Excellent answer Rich! I wouldn't have thought to average the three...and I'm in statistical process control! Sometimes I feel pretty dorky...and this is one of those times...lol. This is definitely the most accurate way to get your humidity count as close to true as possible. It's now a permanent sticky in the file cabinet of my brain...;-D

Re: which is the best
Rich: I'm equally impressed. I might try this averaging method for the two cheap thermometers I have until the expensive one I just bought arrives in the mail. Who knows, once it arrives I might end up having to average all three!
TBC... Jen
