Hi all,just wanting to know what kind of live plants I can use in my ig's enclosure.Thanks for any help with this.



Edit....What I meant was what kind of plants is safe to be in the ig's enclosure to be part of the decor.Which they can eat as well,thanks.

Iguanas + Live Plants = dug up and dead or eaten up plants....lol.

Live plants would be really hard to put in an iguana's cage....they would climb over them (pretty much destroying them) and of course eat them and it wouldnt be pretty for long ( I would estimate 24 hrs LOL) There are trees that are possibilities but of course you need extremely huge cages for them. Thanks Lyn....i'm going to be building them a much larger enclosure.So I guess I want to spoil them.I have no kids of my own,so they are my kids you could say.Just want to build them something really nice.To where I would want to live in it,lol.Thought live plants would jazz it up a bit.Also maybe offer them something extra with the live plants.I do however now see what you are saying.So I guess its back to the drawing board,lol.Any other idea's would be great,thanks.

Going artificial, even for the trees, doesn't mean you need to compromise on appearance. you need to think outside the typical "fake plants" we are use to seeing.

There are a number of online resources that specialise in artificial plants. They are used in homes to appear to be real, but require no maintenance. You do pay more for them, but they are beautiful and mimic the real thing. (Most are made of silk or condensed fibers opposed to plastic.)

There is typically a wide variety of plants as well as materials used to make them. Run a few searches on google. If you have no luck, let me know. I can find them for you as I have researched them myself a bit.
